Needle Felting Classes

Needle Felt Ornament

Cost: $18 plus supplies
Supplies: Approximately 1/4 ounce each of several different colors of wool roving, felting needles, felting mat or brush.
Optional Supplies: Assorted fabrics, yarn scraps, embroidery floss
Prerequisites: None
Time: One 2-hour sessions.

Lacemaking Classes

Beginning Tatting

Cost: $48 plus supplies
Supplies: Tatting shuttle, fingering- or lace-weight cotton yarn (Cable 8 by Mondial), size 8 seed beads, toggle and loop closure (jewelry findings) – instructor will have some beads and findings available, scissors, sharp sewing needle.
Prerequisites: None!
Time: Three 2-hour sessions.

Tatted Snowflake

Cost: $48 plus supplies
Supplies: Tatting shuttle, fingering- or lace-weight cotton yarn (Cable 8 by Mondial), scissors, sharp sewing needle.
Prerequisites: None!
Time: Three 2-hour sessions.

Tatting is a knotted lace made with fine yarns or threads and a shuttle. It makes airy pieces characterized by loops and swirls. Learn to make beautiful and delicate snowflakes as you learn this historical craft.

Naalbinding Classes

Beginning Nålbinding: Oslo Stitch

Cost: $33 plus supplies
Supplies: 100 g ball worsted weight yarn (Ella Rae Classic, Galway Worsted, or Cascade 220), naalbinding needle or big darning needle, locking stitch markers.
Prerequisites: None!
Time: Two 2-hour sessions.

Learn the ancient art of nålbinding (a historical pre-cursor to knitting) with these wrist-warmers done in the Oslo stitch. Connecting with the past has never been so WARM!

Supplies: 100 g ball superchunky weight yarn (Rasta, Franca, Naturalia), naalbinding needle or big darning needle, locking stitch markers.
Prerequisites: none
Time: Three 2-hour sessions.

Long before knitting or crochet, people who wanted stretchy and warm hats, socks, and mittens made them with a looping technique that’s now called naalbinding. The craft was nearly lost, but then was rediscovered. Discover it yourself in this class, while learning to make a surprisingly modern-looking beanie!
