Knitting: Argyle Christmas Stocking



This traditional Scottish pattern of interlocking diamonds has adorned the ankles of kings, the tied-over-the-shoulder sweaters of preppies, and the ripped tights of punksters.  Start your own love affair with this classic and versatile pattern while you learn to make a cozy Christmas Stocking!

Supplies: worsted-weight wool yarn in three colors, 24" or longer circular needles for the main part of the stocking in whatever size will give you about 5 stitches per inch (Wendy used a US size 8/5mm), 16” long circular needle in the same size, stitch markers, darning needle, scissors, pencil and paper.

Optional Supplies: Highlighter tape

Prerequisites: Basic knitting skills, including increasing, decreasing, and knitting in the round

Time: Three 2-hour sessions
