Fall into Fiber

We love the rich colors of fall, don't you?

Mother Nature has reminded San Antonio that we're entering fall! The rain and relatively cooler day have us thinking of fall colors. Autumn is often symbolized by the changing colors of fall leaves, even for those of us in south Texas, where Live Oaks keep their own schedule. Elsie N. Brady's poem Leaves describes this time of year well:

Maybe it's the rich pumpkin-y orange that symbolizes harvest time, or the russet and gold that indicate change is coming. Either way, the fall palette makes us want to pick up tools and fiber. In last week's newsletter, we shared pattern ideas; this week, we have yarn ideas. We've got all the fall colors in a variety of yarns for every project type. Berroco's Sesame is lovely for garments and accessories; all of the colors seem to fit in a fall palette. Sometimes it's individual colors that fit:

a pile of yarn in the colors of autumn leaves-Malabrigo's Arroyo in Talisman (#249) and Archangel (#850)
-Malabrigo Mechita in Desert (#710)
-Madeline Tosh in Candlewick, Tart, & Glazed Pecan
-Plymouth Hot Cakes in Sugar Plum (#011), Autumn (#001), or Fox (#010)
-Crafting My Chaos Elite Tonal in Burgundy or Warm Earth
-Euphoria Knits' Frenzy in Bacchus or Golden Apple
-Hitchhiker Sock in Caramel Corn
-Theodora's Pearls' Auxanometer in Oort Cloud Butter
-Monokrom by Urth Yarns in #3060 and #3059
-Uneek Fingering in #3001
-Expedition DK in Toasted Chestnut

This is just a FEW of the gorgeous autumn colors hiding in our cubbies! Hope we inspire you to enjoy your fall projects as the weather cools into Yarn Season!

Be well, be safe, be kind!

The Clapotis is one of the most popular knit patterns ever and now there's a crochet version, too! Pam of the Hip Hop Patterns blog figured out a way to create a Crochet Clapotis and it's beautiful! What yarn? Most of the autumn yarns listed above would be gorgeous, but Malabrigo's Arroyo would have SUCH a gorgeous drape, and the Archangel colorway would make a gorgeous autumn scarf or wrap (make it narrower for a scarf, and wider for a shawl/wrap).

The Tip Jar

If you find yourself sitting a lot, remember that activity keeps joints healthy! Also, because crafters spend much of their time sitting and working with our hands near our laps, we tend to slouch and our chest muscles tighten up. One antidote is to do a little chair yoga! These gentle stretches will restore some flexibility and make your joints happy: Chair Yoga from Allina Health

All classes are currently on hold, due to the San Antonio & Bexar County joint Stay Home/Work Safe order.
