Wait for the Sun
It's here today. Hope it stays a while...

Well, it's finally, finally, FINALLY here! We're so glad to see some sunshine and normal temps, aren't you? First, we hope that y'all are warm, dry, and have water and that any damage to your homes and lives has been minimal. If you need comfort, we're here.

Next up, Bashful Armadillo's trunk show is rescheduled for this weekend, 2/27. We've been collaborating with Tammy, the dyer behind this south Texas brand, on an exclusive colorway. Inspired by a poem, it's a blend of blues, golds, and corals...think sunrise!

The poem's name is Just Wait for the Sun by Lisa Marks. She says it's about "holding on for better days and waiting for the bad times to pass."

When we were working with Tammy on the yarn, we had no idea how apt this inspiration would be. We hope you'll feel the sunshine when you see it!

Be well, be safe, be kind!

Maika Bags!
Speaking of sunshine, check out these new bags from Maika, a US-based small business. Each bag is thoughtfully designed with functional details, and sustainably-made with recycled canvas and vegan leather, and printed with eco-friendly inks. Yarnivore now carries a variety of Maika's bags and pouches, including the Carryall Tote, Lunch Tote, Bucket, and Pouches. They come in a variety of sizes and fabrics. We like the Carryall Tote for large projects like blankets and sweaters or for carrying needlepoint frames. The Lunch Totes (unfortunately sold out, but we'll get more) and Buckets are handy for mid-size projects and tools. The zippered Pouches come in 3 sizes and can hook to the Carryall Tote so you always know where your doodads are. :)

Flexible Double-pointed needles

Flexible double pointed needles (dpns) are easier to use than traditional double points. Why? Because the flexible dpns bend in the middle, so you don't need as many to work narrow projects like socks, sleeves or hats. Traditional dpns have five needles in each package but flexible dpns have only 3. Working with fewer needles is easier than working with five! Yarnivore carries  Addi FlexiflipsHiyahiya Flyers in stainless steel (sharp) and bamboo. Drop in and try them out!

Upcoming Trunk Show

Join us for Bashful Armadillo's first visit to Yarnivore on February 27th from noon til 4. Described as hand-painted yarns with a Texas accent, Bashful Armadillo Fibers takes their inspiration from Texas - the landscape, the cities, regions and attitudes. Like all Texans, they like to explore the rest of the world but their heart is always back home.

Private Lessons
In-store and online private lessons are available! Please call us at 210-979-8255 to schedule a lesson! Wendy, Dawn, and Nancy M. are all available to help you with your projects! Private Lessons can be scheduled outside of regular hours at the discretion of the teacher.

The Tip Jar

Okay, so for the next time the power goes out, try this: Instead of wasting half-an-inch of valuable candle trying to drip enough wax to make it stand up in your makeshift candle holder, try this:
Pour a 1/2 inch of sand in the bottom of your fire-proof container and wedge the candle into it.

Also, if you can place your emergency candles slightly above and behind you, you should have enough light to work with projects in light colors.

All regular classes are currently on hold until we can safely seat up to 6 students in the classroom. We'll let y'all know when we can offer them again. Until then, we're offering most of our class material in private lessons.
