They're Back
We love these yarn bowls by Dean Hood!

Wood yarn bowls by Arizona artist Dean Hood are BACK! We've got a variety of bowls, ranging in size from small to large with pedestals. If you've not seen Dean's bowls, you're in for a treat. Each is made from upcycled bowls that Dean modifies into a yarn bowl (with the cut out for yarn to pass through) and refinishes. These bowls are truly one-of-a-kind and we'll sell out before too long. :)

Be safe, be well, be kind!

Featured Pattern & Yarn
Hoooked Wavy Blends (yes, it has three o's - that's not a typo) is our newest yarn. This medium-bulky yarn is made from recycled cotton and other fibers and has a variety of gradient colorways. We love that the colors were inspired by the oceans and rivers (although we have to admit, we've never seen a yellow or pink river....). The yarn comes in oversized balls (250g) and it's priced well for 284 yards - we love a value! Hoooked recommends hooks/needles in sizes 4mm to 10mm. We think Wavy Blends are best worked as a bulky - 5 unless you're making baskets or other home decor (where a dense fabric is useful).

Try Wavy Blends in the Coastal Indoor Rug by Maria's Blue Crayon (crochet, free Rav/In-store) or the S10067 Shrug by Tanja Steinbach (knit, free Rav/Schachenmayr/in-store).

Do you lose your place in your pattern a lot? You need Highlighter Tape! It's got the same adhesive as post-it notes, so it won't damage the paper. You can mark rows on a chart, or mark your place in a pattern. It comes in several colors, too, so you can use the colors that you love.

Private Lessons
In-store and online private lessons are available! Please call us at 210-979-8255 to schedule a lesson! Wendy, Dawn, Moses, and Nancy M. are all available to help you with your projects! Private Lessons can be scheduled outside of regular hours at the discretion of the teacher.

The Tip Jar

Do you need a special needle gauge for your crochet hooks? If the size letter or number doesn't show on your hook, you may need to check its size using a needle sizer. They do make special crochet hook needle sizers, but it's much easier to find knitting needle sizers. Can you use the knitting needle sizer for your crochet hooks? MAYBE!

If your crochet hook is in the IN-LINE style (like most Susan Bates hooks), then YES, you can use the knit sizer to figure out the millimeter size of your crochet hook, and then check online to find the letter size. If your hook is a Swan's Neck style, you will need to get a crochet hook sizer with slots instead of holes.

All regular classes are currently on hold until we can safely seat up to 6 students in the classroom. We'll let y'all know when we can offer them again. Until then, we're offering most of our class material in private lessons.
