Red, White & Blue!
Knit or Crochet Projects

Memorial Day is Monday, May 27.  Locally, there will be a ceremony to honor the fallen at Fort Sam Houston (May 27, 9:30am). Many of us have family or friends who have served and some of us have loved ones who died while serving. We hope y'all will take a moment to honor them. Collage of crocheted or knitted blankets, dresses, pillows in red, white and blue

Memorial Day will soon be followed by Flag Day (June 14) and then Independence Day (July 4). In addition to our national holidays, the Paris 2024 Olympics are coming. In honor of these events, we're highlighting crochet and knit patterns of the red, white & blue variety. We love Red White and Baby blanket by Tamara Kelly (crochet, $4.97 Rav/in-store or free on the Moogly), America the Beautiful by Rachel Alford (crochet, $5 Rav/in-store or free at Cozy Nooks Designs) and Old Glory blanket by Erica Fedor (crochet, $4.99 Rav/in-store or free at Highland Hickory Designs). Have a youngun to knit for? Check out Patriotic Celebration by Clara Masessa (knit, $5 Rav/in-store). We love decor patterns like Patriotic Wreath for Knitters by Kristen McDonnell (knit, $3.80 Rav/in-store or free at Studio Kints), Granny's Patriotic Wreath by Alexandra of EyeLoveKnots & Cre8tion Crochet (crochet, $2 Rav/in-store or free at EyeLoveKnots) and the 1776 Pillow (crochet, $5 Rav/in-store) and USA Stars Pillow by Rachel Alford (crochet, $5 Rav/in-store; both are free at Clover USA)

Trying to choose a color for your next project? We recommend that you look at the color in a variety of lighting, especially if you want to compare dye lots. Indirect sunlight can often reveal a color difference where indoor lighting may not, no matter how good it is. If you're in Yarnivore, you may hear us encourage people to take the yarn to the front of the store, where natural light is strongest, to compare colors. You can do the same with your stash.

Do you have a tip idea? We're happy to share it, just reply to this newsletter!
